Shitzu has started making his own treats (his poop!)

We feed our shitzu a raw diet with added enzymes and he gets some fruit and veggies (okay he gets whatever our toddler throws on the floor)! He goes out, poops, then turns right around and eats it. How could something be missing from his healthy (and incredibly expensive) diet? Any thought?

How old is he?  Any recent changes in his life/routine?  Coprophagia is difficult to determine the cause of; might be worth just managing him for a bit so he can't grab the poo and see if that helps break the habit.

Ugh. I guess we will have to. He is a very high maintenance little guy. Before, he simply would not poop if he didn't go for a walk. We were trying to wean him off needing the walk every single day (I know dogs need walks but we have a 15 month old and it's snowy outside and my husband is out of town, blah blah blah). He finally started pooping outside in the yard which was awesome, but now this. He is a great little dog, just a rescue with some leftover issues.

The walk probably was distracting enough to keep him from snacking - hopefully a little extra supervision and he'll adjust to pottying sans snacking in the backyard too.
