Raised/elevated dog bed/sidecar?

Dh and I have a major disagreement. He does not want the dog to sleep on our bed and I really do! To be fair, he is a 45-pound collie mix and we co-sleep with our 6-year-old dd; but he is SO cozy to snuggle with!

So I figure the only solution is an elevated platform, where doggie can be next to me and with us, where he wants to be and dh will not be squished. I'd like it to be the same height as our bed. Has anyone made or bought something like this? I've seen raised dog beds, but that's not quite what I want. I want more of a sidecar co-sleeper. He has a really nice handmade wool bed that could go on top and I might be able to convince dh to build something, but maybe not. I might have to buy it.

My dog slept in my ds's crib next to our bed the other night. At least someone sleeps in it!
