quick quilt suggestion

Thread Starter

My girls just got a new bed (twin over full bunk).  They need bed clothes and I just can't bring myself to pay for quilts for the tops of the beds.  I have quilted before so I pretty much know what I am doing, but I need some suggestions.  I want something that I can work up very quickly, but also something that I will be happy with.  I will most likely tie it for speed.  I am thinking of just doing squares, but what size?  And what to do with the back?  I need one for both beds.  Thanks for any suggestions thumb.gif

I am working on a quilt...well more like cheating!  It is just two long pieces of 45" flannel for the top and backing, with wool batting.  I am machine quilting it in a plain grid pattern, instead of tying it.  For twin or full sizes you could buy the fabric cut to the length you need and sew them together (2 or 3 strips) for the top and backing.  Or just use the wide muslim for backing.  Also decorating fabric would already be wide enough for a pretty top.  I have a new baby so I wanted something even faster than big squares.  Four BIG squares would be pretty, too.

if you google 2+12 = Q on Oh frannson's blog, it talks about using a few fat quarters and sheets to make a quick quilt top.
