Need new Lawrence Dr asap

Hello all,

A year ago I came here and got a recommendation for Dr Murphy, whom I love. However I just found out she won't be delivering after March, and I'm due the first week in June. Because of insurance I'm limited to the hospital here, and because of work would prefer someone in town. I need a Dr that is natural friendly, non-intervention for the delivery, but also now have to find a Dr for myself (couple chronic conditions Dr Murphy was helping me with) and a Ped. Please, any recommendations? TIA!

How about Dr. Harris?  She's not Dr. Murphy, but I think she's probably 2nd best.  She's nice, personable, and is typically very respectful of your wishes.

For a ped, we go to Dr. Rundquist.  While I'm not a fan of some of her partners, my daughters LOVE Dr. Rundquist.  She isn't crunchy at all (although she is a huge bluegrass fan...so she maybe she's a little crunchy after all), and she respectfully disagreed with my decision to delay vaccinations.  Key here is respectful;  she made it very clear she did not agree with me, but she never made me feel like that affected my children's care, or that I was a bad mother.

Now that my girls are teenagers, I have discovered that Dr. Rundquist's strength is dealing with girls this age.  My girls really like her.  She seems very thorough, and asks them a lot of questions during appointments.  She seems like she talks to the kids more than the parent, which I've always appreciated.  When they were little, she always got down on the floor with them and conducted the entire appointment on the floor, at their level.  I like those little details, it just seems more respectful and kid oriented.

My midwife isn't practicing anymore either so I don't have any recs. on the OB end but our pediatrician is Dr. Kelly. The problem with lawrence is that the choices are so few and far between that no matter who you choose, it feels a little impersonal. That being said, Dr. Kelly is SO sweet and even if he's seen 30 other patients that day, he will still take the time to make sure your child is comfortable around him and will take the time to talk. (Unlike ... say ... Dr. Riordan who is a total jackass.) I think Dr. Kelly is very crunchy friendly, he's given me tips for my cloth diapers, encouraged baby led weaning, and just generally seemed very accepting and encouraging of all my 'alternative' choices. I did not however opt for an alt. vacc. schedule, since my daughter is in daycare so I don't know what that is like. But all in all, he is really great. I love how he loves on the babies, and plays with the toddlers, you can really tell he loves his job and cares about his patients.
