Just for fun - collections

So DS (almost 4) loves collections. One thing for every color of the rainbow during nature walks, rainbow assortments of marbles, light-bright pegs, stuffed animals (again one of each color in ROYGBV order), and an vast assortment of magic wands. What about you all? The quirkier the better if you ask me! :)

Oddly my kids have never collected anything. None of 'em. Not sure why. They seem to have little interest in or attachment to stuff. I collected all sorts of stuff as a child, but my kids don't take after me that way.

I used to collect all sorts of weird things. Um, actually I still do. I collected starburst candy wrappers as a child and found out about fractions, distances and infinity by doing so. I also enjoyed sorting by color. I collected dryer lint for a while once. All those earthy colors could have made an interesting, if somewhat gross, sculpture. The gross aspect made me trash them.

DS seems a bit of a collector as well. He also collects candy wrappers and makes collages we keep in the kitchen. DD does this as well, but I think she does it more to emulate DS than because of some inner desire. DS collects almost anything that he can use later as part of a sculpture.

That's funny about the dryer lint! I saved some too as a kid, and tried to make my own "cotton" art paper with it using an old window screen. (Kinda worked, but threw it away after awhile. My mom pointed out that it looked "gross" ! LOL!
