Best time to take vit C

I usually take 4000 - 5000 mg Vit C in powder form first thing in the morning, before anything else.  This way I have found it helps my constipation issues, but I am now wondering if this is the best way - or even a good way - to take it.

I would like to get the maximum benefit from the vit C instead of using it as an expensive laxative uhoh3.gif.  I have started on working towards healing my gut /  candida issues using nutrition (TF & fermented foods) along with green smoothies and herbal remedies, so hopefully the constipation will go along with this....

My kids also get 1000mg of vit C in the morning, would it be better to split their dose?

I (mostly) take it pretty regularly, 3-4x/day is the dosing I've seen most recommended and I've stuck with 3x/day for simplicity.  My understanding is that it doesn't circulate long in the bloodstream, thus smaller doses spread out.

Some people find that magnesium helps constipation, but you don't need to take it as frequently, the levels can stay steadier longer (not sure how much individual variation there is for that, but I can skip a day of magnesium for my kids and not see symptoms--not constipation, other stuff).

Yeah, that.   I do use magnesium daily, but I definitely need it.  Sad really as it's been about a decade!

Thanks, I have started spliting my dose 3 ways, definitely will not remember to take a 4th dose daily , trying to keep track of what I am taking now is a full time job on its own LOL.  I ordered some concentrace, which is ionic minerals it has:

Mineral Symbol 40 Drops Contain %DV
Magnesium Mg 266 mg 67%
Chloride Cl 740 mg 22%

Mineral Symbol 40 Drops Contain %DV
Sulfate SO4 55 mg *
Lithium Li 1.5 mg *
Boron B 1 mg *
Potassium K 1.4 mg *
Daily Value (DV) not established *

Plus the following in naturally occurring varying trace amounts:

Calcium (Ca), Carbonate (HC03), Bromide (Br), Fluoride (F), Iodine (I), Rubidium (Rb) , Scandium (Sc), Boron (B), Phosphorus (P), Nickel (Ni), Manganese (Mn), Chromium (Cr), Strontium (Sr), Cobalt (Co), Zinc (Zn), Titanium (Ti), Lanthanum (La), Cerium (Ce), Barium (Ba), Copper (Cu), Iron (Fe), Silicon (Si), Yttrium (Y), Molybdenum (Mo), Tin (Sn), Gallium (Ga), Gold (Au), Silver (Ag), Cesium (Cs), Beryllium (Be), Selenium (Se), Vanadium (V), Dysprosium (Dy), Holmium (Ho), Terbium (Tb), Praseodymium (Pr), Lutetium (Lu), Gadolinium (Gd), Samarium (Sm), Bismuth (Bi), Ytterbium (Yb), Erbium (Er), Europium (Eu), Neodymium (Nd).

Guess I can use a bigger dose than what they recommend - 1 drop per 2kg body weight.  Any ideas how much magnesium I should be taking?  I suppose I need to add more calcium, this doesnt have much calcium in it ... my head is begining to spin trying to keep track of everything
