Hi Ladies:
I guess I am looking for reassurance again. I had a 5 cm ovarian cyst diagnosed 7 months ago incidentally, after a miscarriage. At that time, it was considered a "simple ovarian cyst with no concerning features. I just had my followup ultrasound and it is still there. It is growing and changing minimally. My family doc, who I trust, is insisting that this is not cancer. I know she can't know for sure, but she says she's never had one of these come back as cancer. As far as I know, it is still considered "fluid filled," but now has 1 thin septation. She is referring me to a gynaecologist, who she says will either monitor it or remove it, or possibly "break" it.
I guess I'm looking for others' experiences here. Can anyone reassure me about this? My doc says if it was ovarian cancer, it would have changed and grown and spread a lot more in the past 7 months than it has. Apparently, my other ovary/uterus etc look fine.
By the way, this was only an abdominal ultrasound. I remember the tech saying she would consult the radiologist to see if he wanted an internal, but that if the cyst hadn't changed much, he might not need it. He didn't need it. Can I take this to be good news? Or does the fact that this was only an abdominal u/s mean there could be more bad news waiting?
I'm 43 and the only symptoms I have are some stinging pain during my period. Everything else feels relatively normal. I just want it out at this stage.
