Hi, that definitely sounds strange! Can you please post to let us know your computer's operating system and browser (and version)? Example: Windows XP, Internet Explorer 8. Also if it's possible for you to post a screenshot using the image uploader iconimageuploader.png

of what you're seeing when the posts are going over to the right, this can help us understand specifically what you're encountering and why. I'm very sorry for the inconvenience. Thank you for the help!

I'm a bit to tired and cranky and have to much in my head to try and figure out how to take a screen shot right now. I can tell you that I use Mac with OS I guess and Firefox. It's happening with other members though as well. One of my posts is here:

Certainly understand and appreciate that! So, it's actually your posts and not the post editor box that's giving you problems. Are you copying and pasting at all in the post? Did you select the right justify icon maybe? If it's limited to that particular thread, it's most likely an issue with the html source code getting "messed up" if members are copying and pasting an original post. If you can let me know if this problem is limited to this thread and not happening when you post elsewhere, that would be super helpful.

Just for future reference, I have a Mac, too, and when I want to do a screenshot, I click command+option+4 when I want to capture a portion of something and click command+option+3 to take a full screen picture. But, your link is perfect as an example so no screen shot necessary smile.gif

Thank you so much for providing me with an example of what's going on for you. If you see others talking about this problem, can you please let them know to post in here so we can try and narrow down what and why it's occurring? Again, I'm really sorry for the inconvenience!

Thanks Georgia.

It's in 2 threads that I know of and we are doing a copy and paste b/c it's for a challenge thing and it's easier that way. If I'm just making a regular post it's fine.

If you're doing a lot of copying and pasting and not a lot of posting images, you might consider trying a different post editor that's a lot less glitchy and enables you to type smilie code directly into the post without having to go to the smilie box. It's called the BB Code editor and you can go to your My Profile link at the top of your page (next to Calendar) or click your username next to the logout link (and below the Mothering Magazine image) and then click Edit Account Details (which is at the top right near My Messages). Then scroll all the way down to Preferred Editor Type. Select BB Code. Make sure to Save your changes. BB Code editor is really nice and is really stable meaning it produces a lot less anger and frustration wink1.gif You might try it and see if that helps your c/ping so you can enjoy that thread a bit more!

Funny I just posted my dinner tonight and it came out totally normal! (I'm doing the Jan. Home Cooked meals Challenge) Hopefully it's normal from now on, but if not I'll follow the directions you just gave me.

Great, thanks for letting me know. I really appreciate your taking the time to post so we can troubleshoot to help. I want your MDC time to be enjoyable and not anger-inducing.

Ok this is just getting rediculous now! I thought it was solved but it's isn't. One post was fine. The next one went all the way to right side, like every word was on the side and not just each post! Then just now I copy and pasted my last post in a thread I'm in for a challenge and none of the pictures showed up! I want my smilie to show in each post I made, b/c it's for my challenge. I did what you said and went to my profile and change things. What's up? What next?

How are you copying your posts? Are you copying when just viewing the post or do you click edit and then copy the code? If the first way, can you try viewing the post you want to copy, click edit, copy all of that, then click post reply, paste, and submit? It will help narrow down what the software is needing to see in that box in order to format posts correctly. (for troubleshooting purposes - or, if we're lucky, it will fix you up! smile.gif )

I go to my last post and just copy that then I hit reply and paste what I just copied. I was sad I didn't get all my well deserved smilies last night. greensad.gif

OK. Can you try doing it the way I described? I *think* that should keep your smilies intact. {fingerscrossed}

Hey ~ Did that fix you? orngbiggrin.gif   I see your post is all smilied up here -- http://www.mothering.com/community/forum/thread/1287830/january-2011-home-cooking-challenge/140#post_16187193
