GroVia vs Prefolds & Wool

I'm expecting my first child in March and plan to CD. Both my mother and grandmother have emphatically told me that it is important for a baby to be able to feel wetness (and be changed quickly) in order to have smooth potty training down the line. This has probably influenced my preference for natural fibers. It's also what I prefer to have on my body.

I've been attracted to the GroVia line, and after purchasing a few, they seem very nice. I also got some prefolds and wool for the newborn period, mainly because I didn't want to invest in anything more expensive. However, I'm now falling in love with this system & am questioning the GroVias. It seems like wool would be great for home use, but GroVia would be better for trips or overnight? It also seems like one-size diapers are cheaper over time.

Anyway, I'm wondering what to ask for in my registry so that I can fill out the stash. I would love to hear your opinions about these options. Are there any one-size options for wool?

I have also purchased a small assortment of fleece-lined pockets (when I see a good deal). With the exception of the Katydid and Rumparooz, I don't like how the diapers feel, inside or outside. Where do you think this kind of diaper might fit in the mix? Are they better than GroVia or prefold/wool for certain situations or should I just resell?

For what it's worth, my daughter was in mainly natural fibres while she was in diapers/training pants, and she didn't toilet train completely until she was 3. Feeling wet never made a whit of difference to her. So I wouldn't count on a natural fibre system to help there.

If I were you, I would ask for gift certificates for my registry. You may change your preferences more than once once your baby is born, depending on her skin, her size, etc.

You just names a couple of my favorites! Check out some reviews I have done.  I absolutely love Rumparooz.  They are so so simple to use which is great for other caregivers.  They are some of the softest I have ever felt as well.  I also love my GroVia both hybrid and AIO.  I will say that the Hybrid insert gets a bit more canvas like over time.  I do not like the hybrid for night time.  I get leaks out the back.  I do find the cover also works great with Thirsties Hemp prefolds.  I just trifold them and lay them in.  The Thirsties Duo Covers are great covers.  I honestly have not used wool.  The reason is that it has natural oils which keep it water proof and from what I understand of them they can not be washed with my other diapers which doesn't work for me. 

I would wash your diapers a few at a time to test them out.  That way if you don't like them you didn't prep and try them all!

I bought all go-via dipes and liked them for a while...after 6 months I hated them. I just bought the Flip stay dry dipes and will never go back!

I know it's not cotton but seriously DD's privates were getting red and the cotton was not soft it's canvas like and with the mobility it just stunk all together. I use the flips at night too and they are the only dipe at night to ever work with her. we have been doing disposable at night since she was 6 m/o
