My Suprize unassisted home birth

On Saturday, November 28th I woke up with mild contractions.  We had a typical Saturday including a trip to Costco, a nice lunch and a visit to Toys R Us.  After that we went home and hung out.  Though out the day I had mild contractions but nothing that left me to concerned.  That night I made pizza for dinner and while I was cooking I called the midwife and gave her a heads up that tonight might be it.  I tried everything after dinner to get my contractions more regular with no luck so around 1030 I gave up and went to bed.  Well around 11 before I could actually get to sleep my contractions finally started to get more regular and a little more painful.  They started coming about 6 minutes apart and were lasting about a minute.  I gave the midwife a call around midnight and we discussed if she should come now or not.  I didn’t want her to come to early and I was in labor for over 12 hours with Logan so I figured she could wait.  I told her when it got worst I would get in the bath tub and she said to make sure I called before I did.  Well about  1am I called her and said it was getting worst and she should probably come.  At this point I had already actually started to feel some sort of pushing feeling but didn’t realize that was what it was.  I got in the bathtub and tried to relax.  Everything was still bearable but I had serious concerns about how much worst it was going to get.  I really started wondering if delivering at home was the best idea and maybe going to the hospital to get an epidural would be a good idea.  This probably should have been my first clue that I was in transition.  My contractions seemed to continue at about 6 minutes apart and last about a minute throughout transition.  Slowly with each contraction I started to realize that the weird feeling I was feeling was actually the pushing feeling.  I tried to relax through each contraction and not push.  At about 130 Logan woke up and started crying and looking for me.  Jet took him back to his room and I called my friend Jaykay to come and get him.  I was sure I had time before the baby was born.  Then as I was laying there I reached down and realized that I could feel his head.  Then it all hit me that this baby was about to be born.  With the next contraction I felt this urge to push I couldn’t ignore.  I pushed once really hard and his head popped right out.  I immediately pushed again and his body came out and I immediately put him on my chest.  Jayden came out screaming at the top of his lungs and wouldn’t stop.  Jet came running back in when he heard the baby scream.  We were both in shock at this point.  He called the midwife who was 10 minutes away.  Right about then my friend arrived.  She is a nurse practitioner so she quickly checked out the baby and got me some towels to warm him up.   Then she went and watched Logan so Jet could stay with me.  When the midwife arrived she helped me deliver the placenta and cut the cord.   I am still surprised at how easy of a birth it was.  It was such an amazing experience.
