do ANY cloth dipes hold baby boy pee?!

DS is 7 weeks old. We've tried prefolds with a thirsties wrap, a whisper wrap, fuzzy bunz, fleece covers over a prefold... the only thing holding back leaks are disposables and g diapers with a disposable insert. By this age, my DD was leak free in prefolds with a wrap or in her fuzzy bunz. What works for boys? We're changing his dipe about every hour and a half, and I'm sick of leaks waking him from naps!

I'm certainly no expert, as I only have a girl and have never dealt with boys in CDs, but I have heard from a lot of other mamas that pointing the penis down when you put the diaper on will prevent leaks out of the top of the diaper. We use FuzziBunz almost exclusively and don't have leak issues unless they need to be stripped. If you're already pointing the penis down... then I hope there's another mama (or daddy) on here with a better answer for you! :)

I have a boy and this sometimes happens during naps.  Its usually because the fit of the cover combines with the sleeping position.

Do you double stuff his diaper when he naps?  What size covers are you using?  Where do the leaks usually take place?  If its around the legs it might be that the cover is too large.

The other question is what fold are you using?  We found that the bikini fold was great for holding lots of pee when DS was smaller.  Now its angel fold all the way.

yeahthat.gif  & Another question- how new are the dipes? i found that new cds had a leaking problem that took far more than the recommended couple of washes before use to take care of

I discovered early on that pfs and even many fitteds are one-pee dipes for my DS. I will say though that if you're changing every 90 min, that sounds about right for his age. Any longer and i'd expect leaks.

For us its all about absorbancy. At that age, we were using sugarpeas AI2 w good results (its a hemp inner). At this point we use a lot of Dream-Eze (babyhalfoff.com seems to have these regularly). Goodmamas are another w enough absorbancy for us. Basically if you look at the soaker, anything w 1 soaker wont hold my DS, i have to look for dipes w 2 soakers.

Ill also say that we had a tough time w dipes early on because of his shape. We had a lot of leg leaks until i figured out the leg openings must be snug. Any gaping and its an automatic leak.
