Best diapers for the newborn stage?

I'm having my 5th baby in August and am already starting to think about cloth.  What do you all think is the best diaper for the newborn stage?  With my youngest two I used all different kinds, but never really found the right type for when they were newborns.  My babies have ranged in weight from about 7.5lbs to 9lbs.  Any recommendations?  We really don't need anything for this baby so when my family asks me what to get I want to just tell them money towards dipes!

I liked the kissaluvs fitted for newborn stage- after that I love prefolds. This time around (baby number 6) I'm just using prefolds (cause I sold my last diaper stash). The kissa's are small though and while my babies are only 7-7.5 pounds they double their birth weight in 6 weeks and outgrew them fast- hence my prefold preference. I have not tried the newer diapers on the market though. Been using the same brand covers (Nikky's, Biobottoms and later on Imse Vimse for 20 years).

I'm curious about this as well. My cousin is having a baby, and I didn't use cloth until my son was about 6 months old. I used Bum Genius diapers, but they would be huge on a newborn.

Best for NB:

infant prefolds with Thirsties Duo Wraps

Kissaluvs 0 with XS Thirsties covers

Rumparooz Lil Joeys AIOs

NB GoodMama fitteds

To add to this list, we loved Mother-Ease Sandys in the newborn, and then small size, with the matching covers. They were bullet-proof!

I'm going with mostly fitteds/covers for the newborn stage.  I figure that way I have two layers to catch that runny poop that I hear so much about.  One of the things I've heard about Kissaluv 0's is that they don't stay very soft.  We ended up buying a bunch of XS Sandy's secondhand and they are cuddly soft, which makes me happy.  Haven't had the chance to use them on kiddo yet though!

I love my rumparooz and they would absolutely fit a newborn.  I think my gro-via would but I got them a bit later.  Also thirsties duo covers w/ the hemp prefolds would be great.

I've heard a lot of good things about prefolds, but I've never tried them myself. We use mostly FuzziBunz, and the XS or Small FBs fit great on NBs. If you're not worried about some bulk for the first month or so, you could try the FB OS diapers. They're super adjustable and the stay-dry fleece inner is great because it won't irritate baby's skin. The microfiber inserts are really thirsty, but if you're looking for a natural insert and aren't too concerned with the color of the diapers, FB just came out with a Vanilla-colored OS that includes a Joey Bunz hemp insert. I got one and now I'm working on switching over all of my MF inserts to hemp. SOOO absorbent, and not prone to compression leaks like the microfiber can be.
