homemade soap for hand eczema?

Hi all,

I hope this is a good place for this post.

I have suffered from hand eczema for about 6 years now, and have found that it is very irritated by strong detergents and pretty much any scent in hand/body soaps, lotions, shampoos, baby wipes, etc (and many products that are labelled "unscented", "sensitive skin", or both).  I had a very tough time with my first baby because of all the constant washing that has to be done, and I am expecting my second in May.  I was thinking about trying to make my own soaps and wondering if anyone on here has tried this with any success or can recommend resources.  I'm particularly wondering about putting in my own herbs, since I do grow several and am always trying new ones; I wonder if it is just the chemical fragrances that bother my skin or if plants or plant extracts would cause the same problem.

Thanks for any advice.

I used an olive oil soap for a while that I got at Whole Foods. I can't remember the name of it though.

We use the Kiss My Face 100% olive oil bar soap. Is that the one you're talking about Kathy?

The California Baby Super Sensitive line is ok with myself and my son and both of us have some major issues. I use it in a foaming pump which makes it go longer and rinses it off even better. I find that most soaps won't rinse completely (whether foaming or not) and that was a big issue for me.

On the eczema also...make sure you dry your hands very well each time. That will help.
