Chiming in to say definitely test. Â Rural areas, old farms, places where crops are grown, automotive work is done....you may or may not find residue in your water. Â Ours is extremely hard, so we don't drink it. Â We are looking into a softening system, but we have heard that you need to be careful about this if you also have septic.
