Hey Mami--come on over to Queer Conceptions! There are a ton of us with good advice who can totally talk you through it! Also, Joanne is really helpful--if you have any questions just ask her on the phone and she'll tell you exactly what you need to do.

Our current pregnancy was a product of a home IUI. It was the first one we had ever done (all the others were office IUIs) and we were ecstatic it worked! My advice:

1) Practice with the speculum beforehand, there are different sizes and 1 will be a good fit.

2) Practice finding the cervix with a flashlight, and  I would advise looking for pictures online if you have never seen one in the flesh before. http://www.beautifulcervix.com/  <----this is a great website, a woman took a picture of her cervix every day for a month, VERY cool!

3) Relax, take your time and push the sperm in VERY slowely or else it will SHOOT out!

GL!

We are so excited that after about 7 tries we were finally able to locate the cervix. My SO was definitely starting to freak out with my ovulation being about a week away. Just glad that the most important part of the IUI appeared! I guess we will take another look tomorrow to see if we find it again. Thanks for the advice.

Thanks sooo much for the website pics 2moms3kids. It helped and we were finally able to locate the cervix. Hopefully all goes well. We are definitely nervous though.
