Tandem nursing with illness

I have no idea if I should post this here or breastfeeding beyond infancy or breastfeeding challenges, but I could use some quick advice.  Dd1 (3 yo)is running a fever of 103.3.  She still nurses at bed and at wake up.  Do I need to take any precautions before nursing dd2 (2 mo).  Maybe dd2 has been exposed but maybe not since I haven't nursed dd1 since yesterday morning.  Do I wash with soap?  Is that stupid?  Anybody btdt?

I doubt you can keep baby from being exposed outside of nursing, so if she does get sick i don'y know how you could stop it.

that said, this is completely unscientific, and i just have one, but i would wash my hands alot, and wash my breasts after nursing the eldest at least until the little one showed symptoms.  i'd also try to keep older sibling from coughing on, kissing, touching etc little one, but that's pretty well impossible too.

the breast washing won't stop household transmission, but it would make me feel better to do it

there is lots of nasty flu (H3N2) up here in canada right now - hope that is not what your dd1 has! hug2.gif
