My baby is almost 8 weeks old. Â I EP, and at the beginning I had a lot of problems with my supply, so we supplemented with formula. Â Over this time I have built up my supply to the point that we have been able to slowly phase formula out. Â She's gone the last 48 hours with no formula at all, for the first time since she was 2 weeks old.
Â
I don't know if it's related or not, but the last week she started becoming very fussy, which has escalated to the point that she is screaming and inconsolable off and on for 30 minutes at a time. Â Then she'll nap or eat, and when that's done she's back to fussing. Â Also, today she has had diarrhea all day, and I'm sure that doesn't help put her in a better mood. Â My husband feels that the lack of formula is the correlation, and wants to start giving it to her again. Â I just can't imagine why a baby exclusively eating breastmilk would NEED formula to settle her tummy? Â Isn't breastmilk supposed to be everything she needs?
Â
I have tried generic gas drops from Wal-Mart, but I see no difference. Â I don't know if there's anything else that would help. Â I feel terrible for her, she was so happy and easy-going until this past week. Â Any suggestions or advice would be GREATLY appreciated!
