1. A different color scheme that is not so difficult to read.
2. More posts per page.
3. I would love not to see those "reviews" squishing up the top half of a page's posts. They make the site look so blatantly commercial that it really turns me off and has limited my frequency here.
Â
Yes to all 3 of these. I spend much less time here now because of the difficulty of viewing and navigating the forums since the format change.Â

I see a lot of requests for mobile apps and skins, but I'd like it to be known that some of us are still accessing MDC from desktop computers with very slow connections. Many of the recent improvements have made viewing and posting nearly impossible using my dial-up connection.
I second everything tanyalynn said about searching. MDC is such an amazing resource and it is extremely frustrating to have lost so much search functionality when the search feature wasn't really all that great before. Being able to search by a user who posted in a thread in addition to the user who started it would be very helpful. I would also like to see the ability to choose to see results by individual posts or by thread title in all searches. Right now, I can only choose to see results as thread titles under certain circumstances. It is frustrating to be looking for a certain thread and get 800 results from a different thread that happens to have the same combination of words in one of its many posts.

I need more functionality with the Search. The old Search let me look for posts or threads started by a User, I can't see how to do that now. It let me search for words in either the thread title or within a post, and it let me choose an output of either threads or posts.
Wow, I didn't even realize until I read this and went to go check out the new Search how much worse it is now. Now that I know, making Search better would be my #2.

me too!Â
There is a way. I swear, just the other day i saw the button where you can chose either "rich text" or some other choice and thats how you could use the code to type in your smilies. Now I can't seem to see it..Â
yep
Â
Â
Is there no longer a "member search" or "member list" function?Â
Â
Is "following" a member the same as our old friend lists?Â
Â
Oh, and I really dislike how it gives you a little preview of what the latest post says- the old software you could mouse over to see what the first few lines were but now its just out there, and especially in the TV forum that makes it really hard to avoid spoilers! Instead of avoiding specific threads like I used to do, I now have to avoid the whole forum just in case someone wrote about who got sent home on Top Chef within the first sentence of their post.Â
Â
I'm not sure if its one or all or some other reason, but I'm not finding myself spending as much time here. I love this community and I hate that the new software seems to be keeping people away. It seems like forums are a lot less busy lately. I tried to give myself time to get used to it before complaining, but I am finding that I really don't like the changes very much.Â
and I can't think of anything that I like better.

Less censorship. When my son was born I wanted to ask other mothers about natural remedies for circumcision healing, and cloth diapering related to a circ. I wanted to be able to add, "I understand the reasons why not to circ, it was a tough decision for me, but I'm doing it for religious reasons ... so please don't bash me ..." But my post was removed because mentioning religion wasn't allowed in that forum. So, I had to go ask the question on the forums on Diaperswappers.com ... which then led to my being an active member there, instead of here, so I wouldn't have to repeat the pain I went through in making this very, very tough choice.Â
Â
This happens on a number of issues. I think it's unfortunate and PATronizing, to censor the forums so completely. The moms here are smart enough to weed out misinformation, and ignore unwelcome information, and to self-censor.Â
Â
Not a software change but still.Â

#1- Option to have more posts per page. In the old format, I had the maximum number of posts displayed.
#2- Less censorship - sometimes I feel like you guys think we are children and I go to sites that allow more freedom of speech.
#3 - Changeable color scheme.
#4 - Search members option again.
Â
When you tally up the points, make sure you look at the posts that have received thumbs ups. Some of those people may not have posted their personal opinion on this thread.

What I want most is to be able to choose a different color scheme, without the bright white background. I was very happy with the old tan and would love something like that.
Â
Much less important (but probably also much easier to implement), I'd like an easy-to-access New Posts link on the Subscriptions page, instead of having to look way down near the bottom.
If you click on the drop down menu under forum right under there is the All New Posts button much easier than scrolling to the bottom or going to the main forum page every time.

My #1 priority is to fix the spellcheck. I am a terrible speller and sooooo tired of having to look stuff up on google before I post.
I use spell check with my firefox what browser do you use?

What I most want is the ability to choose how many posts I see per page, to be able to change backgrounds and the organized smilies.

I REALLY want a mobile (phone) function! It is impossible to view Mothering.com forums on my phone and truthfully that is almost the only way I view anything these days. My time at MDC has dramatically decreased since the mobile skin was gone...but i would love something even better than just a skin...
Â
I would also love an option on threads to go to last viewed post...I enjoy the "view YOUR last post," but sometimes I have responded once in the first page and have kept reading, then others respond and I get bumped back to my last post which was on the first page, rather than the last post I viewed....very annoying and time consuming. If I remember correctly, this was an option with the old software.
Â
Thanks so much for wanting our opinions!

Cool, thanks! I never knew that was there. (I still think it would be nice to just have it right there on the top like on all the other pages.)
