When you notice he is hungry, offer the solids first. That has been the best thing to increase DS's solids intake. He will be 14 months on Thursday. As for the vitamins, I don't give DS any vitamins, but I take mine. I would imagine a liquid sort would be best, if any, as I don't know how well he could chew a chewable or gummy vitamin.

Also play with different textures. Much as I want to do BLW as much as possible, DS just loves purees. He likes eating off a spoon. (probably because he sees us using utensils also). You can try mixing breasmilk with the purees (if you go that route) once we started introducing solids - around 6 months - it was really just an offering, hey try this, sort of thing. No pressure. Sometimes he gobbled it up, others not so much. Just keep offering, eventually he will catch on and eat some solid food.

Some of the more finger food things we did: pizza crust (fresh made, brick oven pizza) toast crust, carrot and celery sticks (before he had teeth), rice rusks, spaghetti noodles . . . he loves meatballs.
