Can temp dip after O and still be pregnant?

Hi--I'm in the torturous TWW right now...this is the first time I've ovulated since my MC so at long last I'm finally headed in the right direction!

I'm new at charting...my first cycle charting, actually. My temp was high (around 97.9) 10 days in a row after O and today it dipped to 97.45 but AF hasn't reared her ugly head. Is there such thing as a "fluke" low temp if you're pregnant? Or does this mean I am def. not pregnant and AF just hasn't arrived? How long after the temp dip does AF typically show up?

Yes! A temp dip for one day that comes back up as high (or higher) than the previous post-O days, particularly sometime between 7-10 dpo, is a sign of implantation! But if your temp dips at the end of your luteal phase (usually sometimes at 12-14 dpo) then you can most likely expect your period to show that day or the next.

As for your question, the short answer is yes, you could still be pregnant.  Many things cause one lower temp in a series of high ones.....a fluke, a cold room, etc.  Generally speaking (and someone can correct me if I'm wrong), a lower temperature, all other factors being equal, usually means lower progesterone.  That in itself is complicated, because many things can cause lower progesterone; AF is one her way, Luteal phase defects, or even an "implantation dip" (which basically means the corpus luteum degrades when the egg fertilized implants, but the fetus isn't making much progesterone itself yet, so overall your levels dip, and thus your temp dips as well).  Does that makes sense?

So, short answer, yes you could still be pregnant.  But really, it could just be one random temperature.  Good luck!

Sorry Amo! I just did a quick subbing answer because lots was going on.  I wanted to say I am in the same boat!  7 dpo with a possible temp dip (or possible fluke temp).  Hope this is it for you!

Well, the temp dropped again today :( I guess I can expect AF any minute. We have my husband's grandma's viewing today and the fineral tomorrow...great timing.
