Newborn prefolds?

Thread Starter

I am expecting my second child and am going to try prefolds and covers this time. I did pockets and AIOs with my first and didn't start CDing until he was 5 months old, so cloth-diapering a newborn is new to me.

Well I just finished prepping the newborn prefolds and they are SO tiny!! Am I just forgetting how small a newborn is or what? shrug.gif Does anyone have measurements on how big they are supposed to be after prepping? I'm just afraid I won't get much use out of them, they look like doll diapers. orngbiggrin.gif

Thanks for any advice!

Hee hee. I just passed along my newborn and small GMD prefolds to a friend who is due in March. I stripped them and packed them up and thought, NO WAY these are going to fit any baby! They are ridiculously small. My LO (over 18 lbs. at 4.5 months...) wore the newborn orange edge ones for at least 4 weeks, iirc. He was 7 lbs. 13 oz. at birth. They will fit, for a while. No saying how long. GMD says the orange edge are 11.5 x 12, fully shrunk. We tried the next size early one, just to see, and they were really bulky. It's definitely possible to skip the newborn sizes, but they are really nice to have in the moment. Congratulations and good luck! joy.gif
