Feisty and Fabulous | ONE THREAD | Jan 16th - Jan 22nd - Page 3

Thanks for all of the congrats ladies!  I plan on picking up some more HPTs today, just so I can see more than one positive.  I've already scheduled a doctor's appointment for Thursday to make sure everything is cool.

Val - OMG!!!! I am so happy I actually got tears in my eyes when I saw the picture of your BFP! Not only am I happy for you, but this really gives me hope because I have all the same issues as you did (short LP, many days of spotting during LP).

I've already said it on one thread but I'll say it again, CONGRATULATIONS Val!!! jumpers.gif

I don't really know what to do this early on in ttc other than just wait and see.  I'm tired of temping and being disappointed already.  I did take soy on cd 5-9 this time.  Not sure what else to do.

Thanks again for listening.

TalkToMeNow - That's a really long period and a very short luteal phase the last time around.  How were the OPK readings today?  Are you temping vaginally?  That can give more consistent readings.  Honestly, you really weren't temping enough last cycle to show a shift.  Hopefully, this cycle you'll be able to see a more consistent shift.  Maybe last cycle was anovulatory.  It can happen every once in a while for no appearant reason.

If you can try not to put too much emphasis on temping.  Just do it every morning and record it.  Think of it like brushing your teeth.  It's just something you do.  Unfortunately, TTC can sometimes be a marathon, not a sprint.  Hopefully your TTC run is more like a 5K.   smile.gif

Good luck.

YAY VAL!!!!!

Val- I know I said it in another thread but HUGE CONGRATS! Just cause I know that you have been TTC for so long and it just gives at least me hope... send your baby dust this way.

AFM- I am at 11dpo and I havent POAS today. Got a BFN on $Tree test on 10dpo; thought I got a shadow on FRER and faint Pos on FRER on 9DPO but it was slightly after the window. Dont have anymore FRERs and refuse to purchase anymore until Friday after work when to me AF will be late.

Its encouraging Val that just at 11dpo you got a BFN and then today at 16dpo you get a BFP-- sometimes these tests that say that they can test early-- I am beginning to realize that after reading all these forums that they really only work best from day of AF and beyond.

CONGRATS VAL!!!! When/how are you planning on telling family/friends?

I'm STILL waiting to O, which is actually good. I was pretty sure we'd miss it this month because SO had the flu, but I've been 'about to O any minute' for like, a week. I was so mad at him on Saturday night, we had people over and one of our friends can't drive for a medical reason. SO drove him home and they went out for Congi! He was insanely late getitng in and I was sooo sure I'd O'ed and we'd blown it for another month... luckily, I didn't freak out and say anything crazy. We don't want a December/andother January baby, so I hope we have one more cycle before we need tot ake a break.

Sourire - I really think the Clomid did the trick for me as far as the spotting.  The key is to find a doc that will take you seriously.  I saw two docs that told me that when I get pregnant, my body will know what to do and I won't spot.... um.... no.  This last doc takes my concerns seriously and made a plan.  But I am proof that a BFP is possible, even with issues, so don't give up hope!!

VJSJ - Definitely sending lots of baby dust to everyone!!!

Mummoth - Not sure about telling family.  No one knows we are trying, except my sister, so at least we won't have people asking.  I'd like to wait until at least 8 weeks, preferably 12, just to make sure everything is going to be okay.  But, I know my sister is going to ask any day now, and I can't lie to her, but we kind of wanted our parents to be the first to know.  Plus, I have to be in a wedding in April, and I was about to get my bridesmaid dress altered in the next two weeks by my mom's friend, so that'll have to be a discussion as to why I can't get it altered yet.  For now I'm enjoying it being our little secret.  But I'm so glad I have MDC, because I would explode if I couldn't tell someone!!

I took a digi test this afternoon, and it said "pregnant," too!!  I also still have another digi and two dollar tree tests.  It's like I just can't quite believe it yet.

Val...   Congratulations!!!! May this lil darlin give you rare days of worry, numerous days of joy, and a lifetime of love and laughter!

I am definitely going to do all I can to find a Dr who is willing to prescribe me some Clomid, even though it may take a few months for me to get an appointment (this is Canada). When I saw my gyno in Dec he wanted to wait until I had tried for 1 year but I am not above telling the new Dr (when I see him) that I've been trying for a couple of months longer than I actually have hehe.

In the meantime, I was just wondering if you could tell me what else you've tried that didn't work as well as Clomid. During your 13 months TTC did you ever try: soy/acupuncture/Prometrium (or other progesterone pill)/progesterone cream ? I am just asking so I can have a realistic view of how likely these things are to help me :P

Sourire - When I got prescribed Clomid, I stretched the truth by one month regarding how long we had been trying.  Technically, I had been off BC for the required 12 months, but had only been TTC 11 months.  I just got a little impatient, so I added a month... no harm, no foul.  winky.gif

As for what I had tried, I did try a B-Complex for a while.  It did increase my LP by two days (12 to 14 days), but I would still start spotting around 10dpo (an improvement from the 7dpo I would previously start spotting).   I only gave it three months, and I've heard it can take a while to fully work.  So, maybe if I had tried longer with that, it may have worked.  I was also only on 50mg, could have increased to 100, so that could have made a difference.  At one point a stupid doctor prescribed me progesterone, but the wrong kind - Provera, which is used to start AF, not really to improve LP.  She didn't know what she was doing, and I started spotting like normal.   I also did a couple sessions of reflexology, but couldn't convince DH that it was worthwile to continue.

If you have any other questions, just let me know.  Best of luck and lots of baby dust to you!!

Hi everyone.  Yay Val, what great news!

So I left for vacation almost three weeks ago and got my period immediately and didn't temp at all, but now my temps are at typical post O levels and my boobs hurt, so I guess I can just stay in waiting to know.  :>  I didn't take any supplements this cycle.  I've really lost a lot of obsess energy, since it didn't seem to be helping.

Val, I'm sitting here bawling because I'm so thrilled for you and you give me HOPE!  I'm nearing my 1 year mark and all seemed lost, but you have seriously given me a renewed sense of optimism about the whole ttc thing.  Congratulations and many blessings to you and your little family. :)

Quick question:  I tried soy isoflavones and it gave me a terrible headache for days.  Does Clomid have that same effect on people?  Does anyone know?

Clomid can give you headaches and mood swings and other side effects too.

MommyMatsumoto - Thanks for the congrats and well-wishes!  It warms my heart to know that my BFP has given renewed hope... maybe that was the whole purpose of this journey, and I'm okay with that!  As for the headache/Clomid question - I did not have any headaches while on Clomid, and I have a history of cluster headaches, but never had a one.  I did take the Clomid at night, though, with the hopes of sleeping through any side effects.  So if it did cause headaches, I wasn't awake for it.  :)

CONGRATS VAL!!!!!!

VAL!  SO SO SO happy for you!  Congrats mama! :)  You deserve a wonderfully perfect pregnancy!  Hooray for clomid! I seriously love that stuff.

With my last cycle that began Dec. 8.  The second cycle ttc, of course.  No issues when I wasn't trying to make a baby!  Ha.
