For those of you who do the cooking in the family... - Page 3

Yes, I cook meals that I do not like but then I also cook things that no one else likes! I just tend to have something only I like on hand for the nights when I am making something for my family that they love that I either can't or really don't want to eat.

I've even reluctantly bought him Coke on occasion, though I think it is the very devil.

Ooh, I love "fridge cakes"!  I only learned about them recently, from this snazzed-up version of them ( http://thestonesoup.com/blog/2008/11/alchemy-in-a-biscuit/ ) - it uses mascarpone cheese with the whipped cream & is coated in a disgustingly good dark chocolate ganache (and no liquor in this one, which I found out later is very common, though orange juice is also a good substitute on that?). Omigod, it's so good. I won first prize at my family Christmas party with the above recipe! I'm trying to think of a better alternative than the chocolate biscuits/glorified Oreos in the future, though it will still be a very occasion thing, of course!

As to the actual topic, I've been very very lucky!  DH has suffered through my various bouts of "weird diets" without a peep, and has repeatedly told me that I've never made something he didn't like.  My cooking often tastes awesome, even if it doesn't look so great; I could do with some lessons in presentation, I suppose! And for the most part, I have yet to come across a food I haven't liked!  Even weird things, like chicken stock blended with some sour cream/cultured cream/plain yogurt or kefir in a pinch & drunk. I call it my liquid lunch, though I've never subjected DH to it.

It's far more likely that I'll make something "strange" for myself that I assume others wouldn't eat, rather than someone in the house asking me to make something I found strange; I'm very adventurous.  However, like others have said, if I had a moral objection to something (or was highly allergic - some people get really sick just touching shrimp, for instance), things might be different.
