What are the SAFEST and most natural shaped bottles/nipples besides glass?

I am not working full time with this baby like I was with my son, but I'm kind of at a loss as to which bottle would be best for pumped milk (I am in IBCLC training and will need to be gone for appointments 2-3 months after baby is born).

A couple I am wondering about:

http://www.tommeetippee.us/faq_bpa_free.html

http://www.thinkbabybottles.com/

Of course, I would like something not only BPA free but also phthalates and other crap.  I really like the Think Baby, but would also like a bottle with a nipple that is more breast-shaped.  Is there anything like that or should I just get the Think Baby?

With a 4yo in the house, I cannot get glass.  We have awful tile floor in the kitchen and anything that hits it breaks, even Corelle dishes irked.gif

If there was a recent thread about this, can you point me to it?  Thanks!

My first suggestion about bottles is to actually throw in an important consideration, how fast is the flow. The slower the better for BF babies and you can not rely on the manufacture saying it is "low/slow flow", sure it is, when compared to their bigger/older bottles. I know this book goes over which ones are actually low flow. http://www.amazon.com/Balancing-Breast-Bottle-Reaching-Breastfeeding/dp/0982337957 That would be my suggestion, find those ones first and then narrow down beyond that over what other features you want.

I love my breast flow bottles. My little one goes back and forth from bottle to breast like a champ!

Thanks for the book suggestion!  That will also be very helpful to me as IBCLC.  I will check on the BreastFlow botlles also.  Thanks!

I think the best bottle is the one your baby will take. The next best bottle is the one that causes you least irritation. I like the newly redesigned medela nipple on top of any of their pumping bottles. Saves time and energy.

But I wouldn't discount glass. We have 3.5 year old and concrete floors and the only time we've had a broken glass bottle was when DH shoved it out of the refrigerator. ARGH. The LOOK he gave me. Talk about fearing your wife. =S The medela are super durable and the cheaper Evenflo are supposed to work as well and also have a good reputation.

Finally, when our babies have had bottles they have been fed them directly from the provider. We don't promote a walk around the house kind of bottle because I think it gives the baby/toddler a disconnect between feeding and human comfort. So that is another reason why glass is not a big deal. Our nanny has preference between old meleda bottles, new plastic, and new glass.

I really like the redesigned medela nipple as well. Second choice would be tommee tippee. We have the breastflow as well but I'm not a big fan. I have the Adiri and it's awful.
