goat milk yoghurt and poop :-o

nak. hi all. ds is 10 months. we have given him cow's milk yoghurt on occasion, and he seems not to tolerate it too well, ie mucusy kind of poop.

so i picked up some goat's milk yoghurt and he has had these HUGE explosions. Not like him usually. He normally is really straining and they are somewhat hard. He eats TONS of fruit and veg, for him to demolish a whole pear is not unusual, so the hard poo is kind of strange.

as far as the dairy intolerance, he does well w/ cheese. I know next to nothing about intolerances, but is this normal? Or am I just being poop obsessed??

thanks:)

It is possible that it's just from the probiotic cultures (acidophilus, etc.), they can make the stool a little looser.  It seems very strange to me that you lo does fine on cow's milk cheese, but not yogurt, because yogurt is usually easier to digest than cheese.  And if you lo is eating a lot of cheese, that is certainly contributing to the hard bms because cheese is constipating.  I hope that helps.

Yes, I agree w/ the cheese. He does not eat a lot of cheese at all, but he is a pretty healthy eater!

I try not to give him too many binding foods, bananas, cheese eggs etc. that is why I am baffled as to the hard poops. he goes at least once a day though, so probably not technically constipatiion
