Talk to me about exemptions for partially vaccinated child in Ontario

Thread Starter

I live in Ontario.  My dd has not had any vaccines and we have filed an exemption with her school.  I am pretty seriously considering getting her MMR, chickenpox, and DTaP.  I am wondering how this works for her vaccine exemption for school if she receives most of her vaccines but not all.  Anybody with experience with this?  Can I object to just the polio vaccine or will getting the other vacs invalidate the exemption?

Thanks

Canada's laws allow for a conscience objection. It's not an all or nothing thing like the religious objections in the US. So you should be able to vax for whatever you want.

"Ontario and New Brunswick require proof for diphtheria, tetanus, polio, measles, mumps, and rubella immunization." http://www.phac-aspc.gc.ca/publicat/ccdr-rmtc/97vol23/23s4/23s4b_e.html

According to the list of vaxes you mentioned above only the Polio vax is missing from the ones that are mandated for school.

I assume you have already looked at the exemption form since you signed one but I thought I would add the link since I have it. http://web.archive.org/web/20060501000304/http://www.regional.niagara.on.ca/living/health_wellness/disease-prevent/pdf/Statement-of-Conscience-or-Religious-Belief.pdf
