Can someone help suggest boy names?

Kay, I never thought I'd be one to post a name thread, but here I go. wink1.gif

I am fine with girl names, there are SO many good ones that I love out there, so I'm sure we can come up with something great. But boy names...ugh. I am having the biggest problem even generating a starter list. So hopefully it's a girl! But we may not know until birth so we have to come up with some boy names too.

Here are my "requirements":

*Our last name starts with an M, so nothing ending in m and maybe not even in n? Although Owen is one of the few names I like so far. greensad.gif Maybe it will work?
*I don't want anything super popular. Absolutely no Aiden.
*I'm not into super weird/unusual names either. It has to be something that's recognizable as a name.
*It has to be a boy name, not unisex or one that has recently been taken over by girls. Like Jordan or Tyler, which were perfectly good boy names before becoming girl names, grrr (no offense if you named your girl one of those, it's just a hang-up I have I guess).

Does that all make sense? I know, I'm incredibly picky. But if anyone has some awesome boy names I would love to hear them. For reference, we struggled with this with our first son too and finally ended up naming him Everett, which we love.

So to narrow it down....

What about

Emmett

Charles

Jack

Alexander

Paul

Peter

Nathaniel

Just random names.

Hmm I like Alexander, don't really like Charles, not sure about Emmett (probably too much like our DS's name!), and the others are too run of the mill or common for us.

All 3 of my boys' names end in N, and our last name also starts with M.  I wouldn't rule out any -N names you like, personally.  I think they sound fine together.

These are on my "leftover" list of names I won't get to use. Unless the universe suddenly gives me unplanned babies  at this point.

Lamar

Theodore

Alan

Giles

Walt

Kale

I'd bet none of these are popular.

My last name starts with an M and I have an Owen.  It works out just fine.  So if you love it, go for it!

How about Grant, Harrison, Corbin (though that might be rising in popularity), or Mitchell.

I like that your ds has a familiar "last name/first name"' so maybe something else along those lines?

Thank you, especially pregnant@40 for that big long list! I found a couple more possibilities.

Thanks for that! It helps.

I'm not sure I get what you mean here?

haha

I was referring to the name Everett. I love it! It sounds like a first name that could also be a last name/surname  (to me)...which is an appealing style, I think...so I suggested a few that also go along those lines.

A few more cool names (I pulled these from actual kids in my son's soccer club). I'm on the West coast, so unsure if a few of these are too unusual for your area:

Dekker, Jordan, Saxton, Griffen, Torrey, Augie, Brixton, Grey, Oscar, Logan, Tate, Galen, Gavin, Jonah, Bowen, Otis, Rocco, Sirus, Langley, Colson, Connor, Jackson

Ok, my FAVORITE boy name (which I'll never be able to use b/c it's my jerk ex's name) is Roman. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this name and wish I could use it!

ETA: Also, a friend of mine named her son August (and no, he wasn't born in August- it is a family name). I think it sounds good with Everett!

Finn is probably on the trend rise due to Glee. If you're opposed to trends I wouldn't use it.

My standards are very similar to yours and I favor Samuel and Joel, but hubby vetoed both.

Beckett. My dh has a coworker who has a son named Beckett. I think it is a perfect name. Wish we had thought of it first. It goes so well with Everett. Everett and Beckett...perfect!!! I love it!

My son's name is Xan, which I happen to think is pretty much the greatest name ever. If you like Alexander, might be something to consider. Or Xander, if you don't like the "n" ending (though his last name starts with an N sound, and it works fine).

Have you discovered Nymbler?

I do like that! I mentioned it to DH and he didn't but I might try again.

No, I wouldn't say popular. But I have met girls named Tyler.

Our boy name is Jack Tiberius. We're going for plain old Jack because our last name ends with -son, so Jackson would be too sing-songy. I like Jack because it's nice and basic, but you don't hear it all that often. You can be my best friend if you can tell me where we got Tiberius. Sheepish.gif We like unusual names and this way, we get our "weird" name without having to tell everybody how to say or pronounce it all the time.
