Just what the title says :) How many inches did your child grow between their 3rd birthday and their 4th birthday (roughly).

Argh. I look forward to reading this thread. DS has already grown 3 inches this year and he isn't even 3.5 I just bought a bunch of size 8 clothes on sale for winter next year.

Wow!  That's a pretty tall kid! (I think, as my DD is just getting into 4T!)  Her shirts are more like 5T though eyesroll.gif depends on the outfit I guess, lol.

According to my excel file with my kids' height bag.gif, ds grew 3 inches, dd grew 3.5.

My kids are on the tall side (90-95% for ds, 85% for dd). They generally wore clothing 1-2 sizes larger than their age. So dd is 6 1/2 now and has just moved into size 7/8 pants. Ds is 9 and has just moved into size 12 pants from boys (having just outgrown the lovely size 10 pants I bought this fall!). He's harder to fit because he's also slender. I can't find sweatpants that won't fall down, so I am just resigned to his wearing pants 2" too short for the rest of the year. He doesn't mind, so it's just my fashion sense that's offended.

DS grew 7.5 cm between his 3rd and 4th birthdays. I think that's about 3". He generally runs between 75-80% height. DH is 6'2". I'm 5'1" and shrinking.

I just wanted to add that although our measurements are pretty random, it's very clear that there really are growth spurts. Dd grew 1/2 inch over the course of a week once, and at other times we've had 2-3 months where there's been very little growth at all. So, while it was 3-3.5 inches over the course of the year, it was more like 1-1 1/2 inches over several months, nothing, then another 1 -1 1/2 inches.

Our son grew about 3.5" between his third and fourth birthdays, but had another growth spurt just after his 4th birthday too. He wears size 5 pants and 5/6 shirts.

One DD grew 2 inches and the DD other grew 3.25.

Both are currently 5-- they generally are the same age and size so far. Though my shorter DD can wear a 4T or 4/5 and my taller DD can fit in a 5/6. They need the length since they are both very slender.

My DD is 3.5 and we just measured her last week.  She has grown 3.5" since her third birthday.

And she's eating like a horse lately, which always means another growth spurt for us.

I can't remember how much my 8yo grew that year but my 5 yr. old grew 3" that year and 3" from 4 to 5 also. He's pretty average height.

My daughter grew about 3.5 inches between 3 and 4.  Reading the posts that seems to be the norm.

3.5 inches

Ds is 3.5 and has grown less than 1" sense his 3rd bday.  He is just under 36" tall, and still only 25lbs.  He wears 18months in shorts, 2T in pants (for length, they have to have an adjustable waist to stay up!), and 3T in shirts (mostly to fit over his big head!), 2T in button up shirts.     He is tiny!

Janelle grew a ton, that said, she didn't grow at all height wise from 2-3 years old then had her tonsils out due to sleep apnea at 3 years 1 months and grew a ton after that.  She was like 30" at 3 and 37" at 4.   She's still right at about the 5th% for height (and just below the charts for weight) at 8 1/2.  She always wore one size behind from 4 years old till now, but for some reason this year she is 2 sizes behind in almost everything...

I don't remember for Kincaid...but he's been in the 85th% or so since he turned 2, he always wears 1-2 sizes ahead for tops and either exactly right or 1 size behind for bottoms.

Travis is only 3 1/2, but he's only grown about 1" so far, he's about the 4th% for height and the 10th% for weight...he is 1-2 sizes behind in everything.  River is only 21 months, but he's teeny tiny, really far below the 3rd% for height and weight, and about 3 sizes behind.
