Better-than-expected visit with Mom

DSS's mom visited him over Martin Luther King Jr., Day weekend (not Memorial Day, like I originally said! ???).  He was friendly and affectionate with all of us after his basketball game, even though she was there and communicated her disapproval by leaving and waiting for him outside.  And he bought me a gift, "with his own money", while he was with her.  It was really sweet!  He knows I only like real maple syrup and not "pancake syrup" (maple-flavored corn syrup), but I never buy it anymore because even at Trader Joe's, it's just too darn expensive.  My frugality has become a source of humor in our extended family, for example my sisters-in-law will give me a big bottle of maple syrup on my birthday.  Well, evidently, DSS and his mom were in some store where he found a bottle for $10 and he bought it for me!  And no nasty texts about us, to her, after she left!

Mummoth, ironically we were in the middle of an emergency replacement of our well pump when he got home (meaning no dishwashing...so, to my way of thinking, no cooking, either!)  But I have promised pancakes tomorrow morning (by which time everything should be back to normal with our water).  I told him I'm VERY excited to make the pancakes!  :-)

Ah, that makes perfect sense, you must be so ready to have things back to normal! Pancakes sound like a great way to celebrate that!
