DD had a mild flu over the weekend. We kicked it pretty fast with elderberry, cell salts, and bone broths etc but she has developed a cough. It's not to bad sounds dry but is a little worse at night with 5-6 coughs in a row. She's also a little congested so I'm wanting to give her some SA but because it's so salty I'm trying to figure out how to give it to her.

How do you get it into your little ones?

She's 2 1/2  so I'm not sure what dosing I should start with.I have the now brand so I think the dosing is 1.9 g per 1/2 teaspoon which seems like way to much for a LO.

The dosing rec I use is 250 mg/ kg body weight (when-sick dosing, you need a lot less when you're not sick), that works out to 1.1 grams per 10 pounds of body weight.  So a 30-pound kid would start around 3300 mg per day, divided into 3 or 4 doses, and then fiddle up or down depending on whether that's near bowel tolerance.  My kids always needed more but they're not typical.

As for how to give it to them... see how much you can get into a couple tablespoons of orange juice, or something else with a strong flavor.  When DS was little, I'd squirt it into his mouth with a medicine syringe, but by age 2, he was drinking off a tablespoon measure.  I always failed when I put it into too much liquid--asking them to drink a whole glass of something never worked, I had to focus on small amounts of liquid, taken quickly almost like taking shots.

Thank you it's exactly what I needed! so 3300 mg really isn't that much divided into 3-4 doses so that should be easy for me to manage for DD I think :)  A shot of oj is fabulous idea!
