I am supposed to get the MMR vaccine, but when?

My pregnancy blood work indicated that I am not immune to rubella, so now that I've had my baby I am supposed to get the MMR vaccine. My DD is 3 weeks old now, and I am scheduled to get the vaccine on Friday but I'm having second thoughts.

Is there any reason why I should avoid getting the vaccine now? Would it be safer to wait until my baby is older?

I remember reading somewhere that the vaccine is linked to Arthritis when taken as an adult. I didn't save the link. Maybe someone else will come along and post a link or you could search MMR and arthritis.

I thought MMR wasn't recommended for nursing mothers since it's a live vaccine and can pass through....

Besides, the danger to your baby from Rubella was exposure during the first trimester...it's no longer a danger to her.  (that's why they test for it during pregnancy) If you have a concern about it, maybe get vaccinated before your next pregnancy

Yeah, I'm supposed to get the vaccine before my next pregnancy so there's no rush. But it is being pushed by my midwives, doctor and public health nurse, and they believe it's safe but I have my doubts. If anyone has info or links, I would really appreciate it.

Honestly I wouldn't bother.  If you received the vax as a child, and are still not immune it's likely that your body rejects the vaccine.  This is my case.  I've had the MMR series THREE times, and my titers are still negative for immunities.
