Bummis Super Whisper Wraps leaking through?

The first time I thought he was really sweaty.  The second time I thought it was a fluke.  Today was the 3rd time my Bummis cover feels wet on the outside after a pee diaper!  Its getting his onesie all gross like its leaking straight through the material.  Am I doing something wrong?  I thought it was fine to wash and dry them with the rest of my dipes (prefolds and BG) but maybe not?  They've probably only been through the washing/drying process about 10 times so I don't think they're wearing out.

First thing id check for is wicking - is any part of the dipe escaping the cover?

How wet is the dipe? Even w the entire dipe contained, if the dipe gets saturated, the liquid has to go somewhere.

In addition to the questions Cristeen asked, something else popped into my head.  Are you using a Snappi or pins to secure the prefold under the cover?  If not, it could be that the prefold is shifting and the pee is missing it and streaming directly onto the cover.  For what it's worth this problem is usually more common with boys then girls, because the position of the penis can be a little more unpredictable!

I haven't had the same problem with my Thirsties Duo Wraps (and they are tucked in completely) so I'm thinking its not getting overly wet.  They might be a tiny bit loose around the legs since they don't have double gussets but I'm not sure.

I do use a snappi although I'm thinking they weren't leaking like this when I just trifolded them. eyesroll.gif  Of course then I had to switch covers every to every other change because it wouldn't contain the poop and had to use a few disposables because I couldn't wash them fast enough!

Hi WifeofAnt, Malina from Bummis here. Are you tucking your prefold under the flap at the front of the diaper? If so, the cover could be leaking through the stitching where the hook and loop is sewn. The flap is actuallly there to prevent that from happening. If not, please call our customer service folks. They're great and would love to help you out. We'll find a solution! 1-888-828-6647

Ok, if the legs are gapping, then that cover doesnt fit right. Thats one of the first things i had to learn about CDing, you need a solid fit around the legs. Since you have a gap in the legs and clothing over it, thats a perfect situation for the clothes to absorb the moisture. This is the reason we had to use Imse Vimse covers when DS was little, his scrawny legs didnt fit in any ungusseted covers.

I didn't even notice that flap there until the other day.  Now I'm also having a similar problem with my new SunBaby pocket diapers and the legs on those fit a LOT better.  I think I have a supersoaker baby or something.  I seriously didn't think I'd need to double up on a 6 week old baby and he's not going that long without a change either.  What are the most absorbent doublers I can use?  I'm trying a prefold in the SunBaby right now hoping that would work but I'm pretty sure I'm still going to need more.

If it's more than one kind of diaper leaking, it could very well be a residue issue. Call Bummis! I swear they're awesome! They will go through your whole washing routine with you so you can figure out if that's the issue.
