I realize I don't post here often but I am really hoping someone out there can help me. Last week my son came down with a typical cough, low grade fever and runny nose, he was better in 4 days. On the 4th day my daughter started displayed the same thing, dry hacking cough, runny nose and a fever- that was 5 days ago. She has been playing and acting COMPLETELY normal, we have not medicated her fever. She is eating and drinking well. Two days ago she had what looked like a little bit of heat rash on her chest/stomach and back. I thought maybe she was overdressed at night and perhaps had been sweating in her sleep from the fever. Today she woke up covered in a rash that looks identical to measles! It is a bright red rash on her cheeks, face, neck, behind her arms, all over her torso within 8 hours had spread all down her arms and legs everywhere!Â
I took her to the pediatirician who said she had a double ear infection-her first ever!!- which we are starting her on garlic drops for. The doctor *thinks* she has measles! She isn't sure! She never had the red eyes, no sore throat, and is acting completely normal. We also never saw spots in her mouth. She immediately referred us to a pediatric dermatologist who said her rash looks like measles but doesn't think it is because of the way it spread.Â
So I am left at a standstill not knowing if she has measles or not! Problem is I am 30 weeks pregnant! I know my titers for rubella are fine. I am left with an OB that doesn't even know what to do, 2 doctors who can't diagnose measles and I am completely frustrated.
Long post, sorry. Â I am trying to do as much research as possible as to the risks to me and the fetus and my OB is going to check my titers for measles in the meantime. I am *thinking* from my reading that since the rash spread so fast it is unlikely to be measles but I have no experience with this. Anyone out there that has been through measles that can tell me how fast it usually spreads?? The dermatologist said viral rashes spread fast and furious and disappear quickly, so I am hoping it is just a viral rash. Her fever at it's highest has been 102, today is the day her rash broke out and this morning her fever was at 100.
Last important thing to mention is she is partially vaxed, we delayed her MMR until she was 5 and she had one MMR shot which I would think would provide some immunity. So sorry for the long post, anyone that reads this and has any information I would really appreciate. I am surrounded by doctors who don't know and I am pregnant and scared for my unborn child.

big hugs and prayers. Try and be calm
