Alcohol content in water kefir

I made some water kefir for the first time this weekend. It smells like alcohol! What is the alcohol content of this? Is this safe/wise to give to children? I don't drink alcohol and wonder if I'm sensitive to it since I don't drink it. What are your thoughts or what websites can I go to for the info?

Thanks for the link. I think .64% is too high for me and my family.

You can also stick to a 24 hour fermentation period and avoid letting culture any place excessively warm as both time and heat will increase the level of fermentation.
