What is your favorite and why?
I used Polar Babies with my son, but not as newborn...they are nice but pretty bulky. It's been a while since I've diapered a baby, so any suggestions?? TIA!!

I also really like the Mother-ease Airflows, but you do need to pin or Snappi the prefold underneath. They are a bit roomy (on purpose) and won't hold the prefold in place as well as some of the other, more snug fitting covers. The Mother-ease Rikki wraps are a bit better for trifolding the prefolds, in my experience.

I like Bummis Super Brites and Thirsties Duo Wraps a lot too. Both have the slick PUL on the inside of the cover so they are easy to wipe down with a wet cloth if needed between washing. And they have great leg gussets too!
For the new newborn phase, I used (preemie) Diaperap, I believe. They were nice and tiny. After he gained a little bit of weight, I really liked my Imse Vimse covers - those leg gussets are priceless IMO. But we didn't fit into the NB sized covers until he was close to 6 or 8 weeks, IIRC. Didn't move into size Sm until about 3 months. So much depends on shape - most of the covers without gussets did not give me a good fit and I could not prevent blow-outs just because his legs were so skinny. The one thing the IV don't have that I would like is overlap tabs. At 16 mos, the tabs on his Meds still meet in the middle.Â
For early newborn with cord stump, I felt the Bummis snap cover gave the most room with a good dip in front. The xs thirsties also had a dip but still rubbed DS stump causing very minor bleeding (and a stain that needed washing out). But for after that, the thirsties were great, no issues with aplix/velcro and I liked the fit a little better than the bummis snap.Â

I'd probably like the Mother-ease airflow as we've used those from about 3mo on, and still do now at 21 mo (need to size up again though). I may get an xs in that size for our LO coming in April.
This time around I LOVED prowraps newborn size. They fit great over both prefolds (NB size) and the few Kissaluvs size 0's I have. They have a little dip for the cord, and contained all the messes really well. They are also not too bulky--and they are cheap. I like Bummis later on, but found that even the NB sizes didn't fit very well in the early weeks.
