Not ovulating, no period, what do I do?

Hi,

I am in my early 20's and previous to my marriage last year, my periods were irregular. About every 3 months or so. After I got married, for about 6 months, my periods were every 34 days. We started trying to conceive in August and my last period was Sept. 28. I am in progesterone cream, taking Maka root, and pre-natals. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do?

Thanks.

Ive never tried progesterone cream, but I think your AF.doesn't come for a few days after you stop using it because your progesterone neda to drop and your estrogen roses for AF to start. Sorry about your crazy cycles, the women on here are wonderful & hopefully someone will have better answers!

I would stop the progesterone as it is used to sustain a pregnancy. You may be very sensitive to it and may need to only use it during a typical luteal phase which would be 14 days after ovulation. Maca was not for me it gave me a super long cycle. So you might want to reconsider that too. Are you charting? That would help you identify when you ovulate.

I highly recommend traditional Chinese medicine. Also The Infertility Cure by Randine Lewis

Good luck

I also vote for quitting the Maca. I have really long cycles and it made mine even longer! I would give up the progesterone also.

I would highly recommend acupuncture and chinese herbs, if you have access to those. Acupuncture and Chinese herbs gave me my beautiful little boy, and with any luck, it will help me again with a sibling for him.

If you don't already have a copy of it, get Toni Weschler's book Taking Charge of Your Fertility and start charting! Fertility Friend has a great website for charting as well.

If you haven't had any type of testing or diagnosis for your long cycles you may want to look into that. You may have PCOS, be hypothyroid, etc.

But I really can't say this enough: Acupuncture and Chinese herbs!!!! Go for it!
