Was at Sears today checking out a whole home humidifier- they cover 2200 feet or so. But you need to use chemicals in them to prevent mold and allergens and bacteria growing in the filters and then being spread through the home. They said you add some of the antibacterial with every refill of water (about 6oz in 14 gallons) and then you regularly put cleaners in there too. i asked about the safety and was told, "they wouldn't sell it is it wasn't safe." While I really wish I could just believe that statement across the board, we have countless examples of this not being true. So, does anyone know if these really are ok to have around precious children, adults and pets? Thanks!!!!!
