My original thread is locked, but I have two new bits of information and wanted to reopen the topic....

I stopped using the baby wash and eye drops and ointment, etc. My Ayurveda practitioner told me to use the rosewater I already use on my face, on my eyes. Spray a washcloth and lightly "scrub" the eyelids. Worked faster and was more gentle than the baby shampoo. After a week or two, my eyes felt soooo much better!!! Now, I just spray my rosewater onto my face twice a day and don't need to "scrub" my eyelids.

I ditched my contacts for good and I have no more severe symptoms at all.

I finally found a book on this topic and read 95% of it tonight:

Reversing Dry Eye Syndrome by Steven L. Maskin, M.D.

I got it from the library (waiting list) and it was worth the wait! I am not inclined to follow much of his advice because I tend toward more natural approaches, but I definitely appreciate his thorough research on this broad topic and the way he writes for the average person. Very easy to read and great explanations of how the eye works and how these conditions (a LOT of things are part of the "dry eye syndrome") come about and how they create the syndrome. He also discusses environmental factors and diet and other controllable factors. Those I will incorporate! Interesting how I instinctively have done several of them just on my own by discovering how my comfort level changed.

Also interesting is several versions of "dry eye" are relieved by adding more fat to the diet (specifically flax seed oil and fish oils). My eyes got worse and worse during my "low fat" years, along with other health issues. We use more fats and oils in our diet nowadays than ever before (olive oil, coconut oil, butter, fatty fish, etc).

I'm curious about others with blepharitis and/or dry eye, etc. What has worked for you?
