Swaddle blanket rec for 9mo old?

I know many of you swaddle(d) your older babes bc I've already looked at past threads. My LO is 9mo and has been crawling since 6, when we started swaddling him again. He is so active and curious, he wakes himself up crawling when he's not swaddled. He keeps breaking free of his kiddopotomus swaddle, is a woombie better? I hear it's more flexable to move around, would he be able to get on all fours in it? He loves being swaddled and calms down in it (sometimes he'll sleep for a whole hour which is, honestly, good for him!) so I don't want to stop, but I also don't want it to get dangerous or uncomfortable. I'm thinking of the woombie lil houdini, though I'd rather get something that's 100% cotton.

Cecilia is 9 months, and I swaddle her in a Woombie convertible leggies-- it has snaps on the body near the shoulders where you can open it up to let the arms out should you so desire. I like it because when she's swaddled arms in, she can't get up on her hands and knees to crawl, but she definitely has some freedom of movement. It's our transitional swaddle-- the plan is to wean her really slowly off the swaddle by letting out one arm, then both over time (months).

Oh yes, I saw that one and thought it looked good. I just didn't know if it would fit him, as he is very tall!

What's that material like, and what do you put underneath?

Well, if it helps you figure out if it will fit him or not, I can tell you that the Big Baby sized one is supposed to fit babies from 14-19 lbs, and it's pretty big on my 16 lb girl. It's also too long on her (she's 27" long).

The material is very, very stretchy. When she's awake, she can stretch her arm to all the way extended within it, but like I said, it's big on her still. It's also very soft. For the most part I just put a onesie and socks on her under it, but that will probably depend on the temperature in your house.

We use a Miracle Blanket with my 7 1/2 month old (and used it all the way up to 13 months with DD#1). I'm intrigued by the Woombie because while I love the MB, she can get out of it.

BTW, we're in the midwest and have a cold bedroom so we put long pjs and socks on DD#2 under the blanket.

Well, I ordered a woombie Lil Houdini last night. (gotta love the name!) I just ordered the big baby since it says that one fits larger-up to 22lb and J is 20 and tall so hopefully it'll fit well!

I hope it works for you! I don't think that model is as stretchy as the one I have-- was that what you were looking for?

edit to add a picture of Cecilia sleeping in her Woombie leggies. You can see where her feet are, where the folds start is excess material. I'd say the Big Baby one is about 4-5" too long for her, and she is 27" long:

Thanks, aimee--cuuuuute pic:) Your info helped a lot, as I went w/the big instead of mega size, and, yeah, I didn't want it to be stretchy. I'm not trying to transition to unswaddle any time soon (he can sleep w/o it). My main concern is him trying to crawl. He is one of those busy kids that has no time for sleep and is almost walking, he's in such a hurry. I figured if cecelia can straighten her arms in it we needed something less stretchy so he can't go to all fours so easy in his sleep! I love the footies, I wish it came in the same less-stretchy fabric as the lil houdini! wonder why it's so long, but at least it's not too short and she'll fit in it for a while, and make nice pjs for unsnapping the arm holes!

Oh, and he's 28 1/2" so it should be long enough, too (if not, he bends his legs anyway while sleeping)

Thanks so much for your help!

*good to see he's not the only one that sleeps tummy down in a swaddle--I don't know why everyone seems to think that's dangerous, they're perfectly capable of rolling over or lifting their head if need be!

I would have worried about it when she was a couple of weeks old, but this kid's been lifting her head to the point that it starts to lift her chest since she was tiny. The stomach sleeping's actually a fairly new development-- our swing broke about a month and a half ago, and instead of replacing it, I just transitioned her to sleeping in the bed like she does at night. It went surprisingly easily, and she started doing the stomach sleeping on her own.
