I am an RN and a G6 P5. My last 3 births have been somewhat difficult.Looong labors. My cervix even when not pregnant is 1.5 X thicker anteriorly then posteriorly and I do not efface much prenatally and start labor maybe a fingertip to 1cm dialted. My last labor I had 27 hours of prodromal labor Q 5 min ctx that prevented me from resting. I then had about 6 hours of active labor. My cervix does tend to stay posterior until pretty well dialated. I think this is a result of the uneven effacement given the difference in my cervical thickness.

I am going to try a couple things differently this time. This is my plan, please give input.
Â
I started Dr,.Christopher's birth prep at 35 weeks and am currently 37 weeks and going by the instructions I am taking 2 capsules 3X a day. I am also taking EPO 1,000mg twice a day by mouth with 2,000mg vaginally at bedtime.
Â
I usually go 40-41 weeks. I am not concerned about the dates just would like to labor more effectively. I am also thinking that if I start out labor like my last birth I will take some Benadryl or have some Alcohol and try and sleep through it more.
Â
Please feel free to give advice. I am planning a homebirth with a CNM. We have discussed this but I was wondering if there were any other opinions. This will be my 5th homebirth,

Thanks so much.
