Peeing through Wool covers

I have the little beetle covers and she seems to pee through them, not only at night (which I now have the inserts for) but also through out the day.  After ONE pee.  It's not like I let her sit in a wet diaper and think "oh, it can go one more pee and then I'll change it"  It's like, she's dry, and all the sudden, soaking through her diaper, cover, onsie, and pants!  Am I not lanolizing them with enough lanolin?  Or often enough.  I use about 1 tsp lanolin, and lanolize them about once every few weeks.  I'm using flats too, with the oragami fold, where, of the folds I've seen, has the most cloths in the pee zone.  HELP!

You can check them with water to see if they are repelling liquids sufficiently. If the water pools than they are good. If they get damp than you have to re-lanolinize more frequently (or perhaps switch lanolin systems?). I have heard that some wool covers will wick if compressed...are your DD's clothes particularly tight? Although what you are describing does not sound like wicking to me.

Is the pee coming through the cover or is it leaking in the leg zone? If the latter it may be that the legs are not tight enough. Another thing to consider is that your diapers may be repelling and so the pee can escape before it gets absorbed.

It's definitely through the cover.  Not leaking on the leg zone.  Her clothes are kinda tight, maybe that is it?  I'll do the test by pooling water in them to see.  What is the best approach to fixing it, lanolizing more often?  More lanolin? What is wicking?

Wicking is when moisture travels through fabric, especially when that fabric is compressed or touched.

I'm unfortunately no expert on using lanolin as I've always used an Imse Vimse product and not straight lanolin, but I know that there are lots of other wool-loving mamas on here who can brainstorm with you on what might be going wrong.

IME, wool does not work well under clothes. Wool should be the outer layer. If ypu want to use woll, use tshirts instead of onesies, and invest in either longies or babylegs.

Now, if you have this same problem without the clothing on top, then you need to look to your absorbency. My DS got to the point where he could pee through PF and wool cover like they weren't even there - stream hitting the floor and all.

The only wool cover ive had luck w under clothes is a Pipers Closet wrap. Those are nearly bulletproof.
