I cleared off / out my ____ and feel so much better!
The garage floor (LOL!) I also went through our med's. I found two bottles of the same thing that expire a month apart...so I poured them into one container vs having two. Got rid of makeup I haven't used (why let it sit around? It's sat around a year already, if I haven't use it yet, I doubt I'll use it anytime soon!)
I also cleaned out most of the family closet (which is designed to be a home office - I should probably use it for one someday!). It's good b/c now I have the kids' clothes more organized and can get rid of what my youngest has outgrown. Also, it means I have room for the new clothes I've been buying.
China cabinet. It used to have so many things in it, I hated to look at it. I also hated most of the stuff that was in it (eg. MIL's china that we have inherited simply because we live in this house that used to be hers, that sort of stuff.) So I pulled everything out of it, selected the things I like, and put only those things back. I was even able to add something that I had wanted to display but wasn't able to make room for in the past. Every time I look at the cabinet now it makes me smile. (Even though the cabinet itself it ugly. One step at a time!)
The dining room table. Was trying to eat there all through advent but never made it. It's not perfect but we can eat there. I adopted Crayfish's creed where you have to REMOVE the item of clutter immediately and commit to not letting it pile up. We still have a hammock sitting on the dining room chairs, but at least I can see out the window.
