Mayan Massage

Anyone tried it recently?  If so, I would like to hear your experience. :)  lurk.gif

I've read some old posts on this & of course the mothering mag. article enough to make me want to give it a try.  I don't know if I necessarily have a tipped uterus but my thought is anything to prepare my body for another pregnancy would be positive.

We live internationally and just started searching for someone who is trained in this.  Here in MX, there are alot of "sobedors"--they are traditional, apprenticed healers who work on the skeletal system (some massage, some chiro...).  Anyway, I'm checking with our sobedor and also a massage therapist who I'm going to next month.

I am going to be having some Arvigo (maya) massage in February to help things along. I don't think I have a tipped uterus, but I know that since my DD was born 07/09 my ligaments haven't returned to their prior selves and are still quite slack, which could very well mean that my uterus is tilted now. Anyways, I think you and i are both i the TTC while Bfing forum together ;)--I still haven't had my PPAF yet and am hoping to bring her back without any forced change to the nursing relationship. I will certainly share my experience with it when I have one ;)

I have a friend who swears by it. Got her pregnant twice with in a months time.

I haven't had Maya Abdominal Massage with a massage therapist (although it is something I would like to try!), but I have been using the Maya Abdominal self-massage techniques that they describe in the book Making Babies, and I've been liking them, so that's another thing you could consider.

I did it last year and loved it!! I also got pregnant that cycle. I have been thinking about doing it again, but I never seem to get to it.

After reading this, I just looked into it in my area. I will try anything to be sure I am as ready as possible to conceive when we try again in April. Where did you find your practitioners? I don't know of any problems with my uterus, but I will try pretty much anything natural.

You could try searching here: https://arvigotherapy.com/wide/practitioners. I also found other people in my area just by searching "Maya Abdominal Massage" and my city's name. Good luck!

Thank you escher! I was able to find one about 40 minutes from my house & she responded very quickly back to me. I am getting so excited, I wish that April would come faster!!!

Glad to see that there is some interest out there in the massage.  I am still checking with people in my area to find a practicioner.  B/c we're in Mexico, I am also wondering if "Mayan Massage" or "Masaje Maya" is defined more broadly than elsewhere.  I'll try to post once I find someone and have an apt. and would like to hear experiences of others, too!

I have just discovered this, and am excited about it.  There is a woman here that does it.  I hope to be able to make an appointment soon.  It is expensive, but I am willing to try anything.  I'm looking forward to hearing what everyone else has to say about it.

I had to cancel my appt today b/c we got another snowstorm. I am rescheduled to 2/16. It works out anyway b/c they recommend not going after ovulation if you are TTC, and we DTD accidentally too close to O, so now I'm waiting, I guess here is to hoping I won't need it!
