supplementing with zinc?

I just got some zinc drops and I wanted to give them to my 18 month old ds. I hear zinc is good for low stomach acid and my kids and I all have issues with digestion. Thne I heard of a mama giving too much to her child and causing him to throw up.  Now I am worried I will do that , and also a big question- how do you get it into your children as the stuff tastes horrible?

well, if it tastes horrible, generally that's a sign you don't need it.  You can do a taste test challenge with zinc and if it's a mild taste then you do need it.  However IME (and there's no literature on this that I know of, just my guess) presence of heavy metals that aren't being excreted can skew this.  SO you can't 100% rely on the taste challenge.

Many people will be nauseated if they have zinc on an empty stomach.  So, you can try giving it after a meal.  Other people can't tolerate certain forms of zinc, and that's more a trial and error thing.

Sorry to not be more definitive!  I just dump zinc in juice or in honey.
