Oh my goodness, that would just kill the MIL!! Well most of the things I do are "weird" anyway so that would just be another thing on her list.

If this is a boy, I do have a middle name picked out most likely(my FIL's name) so maybe it would go easier. Still, I could change my mind once it was born!

9.  What is your plan for the birth? I would love to have a home/waterbirth..but more then likely that won't be an option for me..especially since I am completly alone this time around. I will probably have a hospital birth with a doula...have no idea what I will do for a Dr since my midwife is no longer in the area...this is my biggest concern right now.

10. We know healthy, but hoping for a girl/boy/twins?I have 3 boys and 1 girl so another girl would be nice but based on the timing I'm thinking it will be a boy.

11. You hope your baby has your ____ and his______. (eyes.. smile etc) I hope the bnaby looks like me since the father decided to leave the country and basically said "good luck" but he did have a beautiful smile si it would be ok if the baby gets that.

I'm a stay at home mom and find it to be the most frustrating, tiring, and absolutely wonderful job I have ever had!

I love cats and would probably adopt every single one I came across if I didn't think it would totally traumatize the two I already have.

Not sure.  Some days I want a huge family and others I about pull my hair out with the one child I have at the moment. lol

fruit and salt.  I did have a craving the other day for steak, which is crazy, because I hardly ever eat beef.  Waiting for the m/s to kick in.  I had Hyperemisis with my first.  Praying it won't be that bad this time around.

VBAC!  maybe even an HBAC if my options are limited.

No...I can come up with a lot more boy names that I like than girl names. I have a feeling we're going to have  a hard time with that. I like rare/unusual names, but not cheesy. My husband seems to like boring, ordinary girl names. Oye.

1.  I love cooking, gardening, and farming. (yeah, i'm in the city now-, but i'm from "the middle of nowhere" Kansas-and a farm girl at heart.) We eat whole foods and try to buy from local, organic farmers. I'm getting chickens this spring. I kid you not.

2. I work from home-I'm illustrator/designer. I create children's media (nursery wall art, cards, growth charts etc) and design rubber stamps.

3. I'm a Christian.

I don't know yet...I always said 4..we'll see! We'll need a bigger house though..

Oddly, yes. With my first two, I didn't. I've been eating dilly beans though like there's no tomorrow. A week ago, we were snowed in. I pickled every fresh fruit and vegetable we had in the house. The next morning I took a preg test. Sure enough...

Home birth. My first two were in the hospital with a midwife. They both came so fast though that the midwife told me that I have to be prepared this time for a home birth. Since I had no complications

with the first two, i'm going to go for it. I hate hospitals anyway.

Since I have two boys, I do think it would be fun to have a girl. That being said, I love baby boys, they're so much fun-so I'll be happy with either!

Including this one, 4. I lost one last june, of 2010. It was very strange though-I was *barely* pregnant, and I didn't even know that i was. I hadn't even missed my period...i'll forever be confused about the entire thing.

Nothing set in stone. We have a long time to decide that! A few that I really like for girls are Shiloh, Eleanor, Lily, Willow, Noah and Malachi. Surprisingly, I don't really have a list of boy names I really love! Which is funny, because with my last pregnancy we couldn't think of any girl names. Maybe it's a sign. ;) I sure do hope so!

14. How many pregnancy tests have you taken so far, lol?  5. I bought a pack of the cheapies from amazon.com, and started testing for BPT about 8 days before I expected my period. These cheap sticks are great because they're really sensitive and very affordable (less than a dollar each). I had a very faint line on the first 3, and then decided to wait a few days and try again. Two very bright blue lines :). Then, I went out and bought one of those digital ones that say "Pregnant" to give to my DH. I told him I had an early valentine's day present for him and put the BPT in a little teddy bears arms :).

15. Have you told anyone your pregnant or waiting? If waiting, details.  -Only DH and the receptionist at my midwife's office :).  It was funny - since she was the first person I told besides my husband, I was expecting her to get all excited LOL - she didn't bat an eyelash! I'm sure she gets that "I need to make an appt bc I have a BPT" call 2-3x a day! I want to wait until 12 weeks pass, just to be on the safe side.

Hi!  I'm Becky.  I first found MDC when I was expecting my 2nd child, a son, and was directed here for information about circumcision.  I haven't been active for several years, but felt an itch to be a part of a DDC again this time, so here I am!  I can't promise I'll be active... I have a bad track record for forums since my 3rd was born.  I tend to go into more of a lurker mode when I have time for forums.

2. How many kids do you have (including the new baby)?

I have a daughter, Melinda, age 7

A son, Jacob, age 5 (will be 6 when this one is born)

Another son, Alex, age 2 (will be 3.5 when this one is born)

So this one makes number 4. 

3. Are you married, single, divorced, in a relationship...?

I am married.  DH and I will be celebrating our 11th anniversary in April. 

4. When are you "due?"

The charts say October 5th.  That will be just over a week before my daughter's birthday.  I'm hoping for as much distance from that as possible!!  Honestly, I'm not thrilled to be expecting in October again.  I was ready to swear off late summer/early fall pregnancies forever, but this one was a surprise.  My spring baby was a MUCH more pleasant pregnancy.

5. Do you have any names picked out?

Not at all.  Names are hard for us to come up with.  I've learned my lesson, and won't bother with the name process until after we find out the gender, so we only have one half of the baby name book to work with.  Although my son Jacob is convinced this is a girl, and that we will name her Mary.  Also, my daughter looked awfully offended when I told her that she wasn't going to be part of the naming process.  (My exact words were, "It's mine and daddy's decision what to name the baby.... But mostly mine."  DH laughed, because it's true.)

6. List 3 facts about yourself.

My husband has been unemployed for 16 very long months (this economy stinks, I tell you!  He's an awesome engineer, but so are thousands and thousands of other people looking for work!)

We are currently in Colorado, where we lived after we got married.  We moved to Maryland after hubby got his degree, we were 34 weeks pregnant with our first child, and I told him to take whatever job he was offered, so I wouldn't have to go back to work, so off to MD we went.  We stayed there for 6 years until his company went under, and then we came back to Colorado.  So all three of my existing children are Maryland babies... hoping this one actually gets to be born in Colorado, because we sure want to stay here.

I have never had a regular exercise plan in my entire life.  This year, when January rolled around, I felt determined to change my lifestyle and get myself healthy.  Since having 3 kids, a relatively sedentary lifestyle, and then 16 months of stress from unemployment on top of it all, I've gained a lot of weight in this past year in particular.  I found out the YMCA offered scholarship memberships for qualifying individuals, and was doing great at having 5-days-a-week workouts, and feeling awesome about finally getting slim again.  Then I found out I was pregnant, lol.  I plan to keep up the workouts for my general health, but I'm not thrilled about being unable to get slim anytime soon.  What a roadblock.

7. Is this your last baby or do you want more?

I'm unsure at this point.  I wasn't ready for a fourth child just yet, and in my head, I was thinking I'd wait a couple more years, and then maybe do something like have #4 and #5 about a couple years apart.  But since #4 is coming earlier than I planned, I might just stop there.  But I doubt I'll do anything permanent any time soon.  And since we're on surprise #2 out of 4 children, the odds are that 4 won't be the last, whether I choose it or not.  (My sisters and I all have freakish fertility.  Not one of us have escaped a surprise pregnancy.)

8. Do you have any cravings yet?

Isn't that a little early??  The first trimester for me is relatively easy, but I still struggle with minor queasiness and fairly predictable food aversions for several weeks.  So far, no food aversions, or even smell aversions, but I doubt that will last forever.  With #1, eggs and syrup, even the smell of them, made me want to puke.  With #2, I could only eat bagels and cream cheese for something like 2 weeks straight.  With #3, everything sounded good, but only for about two bites.  Then I had to stop before there were consequences.  I'm actually feeling more queasy this pregnancy than any of my others, but it generally goes away if I eat something decent.  So far.  Maybe I'll have some cravings later on.  I generally go nuts over watermelon when I'm pregnant.  ;)

I'm unsure at this point.  My birth history is OB in a hospital (natural expect for the episiotomy), Midwife in a hospital (planned for a waterbirth but went too fast), and then Midwife in my home.  That one was amazing - even though he was 10lb 10oz at birth, it was my easiest and most emotionally exceptional birth by far.  The hospital environment really gets to me, I think.  So, I'd truly love another homebirth.  The problem is that with unemployment, we've had no insurance.  Now that I'm pregnant I need to go out and apply for Medicaid, and I have no idea what Medicaid will allow in the way of birthing options.  Of course, we're certainly hoping DH is employed before then!!  He's actually got a couple good possibilities going on right now.  If we get onto a different insurance later that doesn't cover homebirth, I'd likely pay for it out of pocket, it's so worth it to me.

10. We know healthy, but hoping for a girl/boy/twins?

I'm hoping for a girl.  And my kids are convinced it's a girl, too.  My daughter *desperately* wants a sister, and even my oldest son wants it to be a girl....and it just feels like it would be a good fit right now.  Even though I have no emotional "tells" about gender, I have to admit that I'm sort of convinced this will be a girl, myself.  I think I will be disappointed if it's another boy.  I love my boys, but I'd love to see my daughter have a sister.  I grew up with 4 of my own sisters, and I think she needs that bond in her life.

11. You hope your baby has your ____ and his______. (eyes.. smile etc)

I have no idea.  I can't even tell how my kids resemble myself or my DH, anyway.  People always tell me that my daughter is a clone of myself, and I can see that now, but I sure couldn't see it when she was born.  And I can't tell with my sons, at all.  Some people tell me that they look just like me, others say they look just like DH.  So how can I have a preference?!?  I do hope, though, that maybe I'll get another blonde kiddo.  My daughter has light brown hair, oldest son has very dark/almost black hair, and youngest son has blonde hair.  All three have blue eyes. 

12. What state do you live in?

Currently residing in Colorado, hoping to settle here permanently. 

13. Do you have any hobbies? 

I like to sew, but do it in spurts with long breaks in between.  For instance, I haven't really sewn anything since Christmas, even though I have a whole list of things I want to work on. 

I used to play online games with my hubby, but child #3 messed with my schedule too much, and I had to quit.  Since then, I've let myself get sucked into far too many Facebook games.  I also like to play Wii games with my kids.

I do digital scrapbooking, off and on.  I'd probably do it more if my computer weren't a dinosaur, and my photoshop program wouldn't completely bog down my system.

14. How many pregnancy tests have you taken so far, lol?

Just one.  That's all I ever need.  You know how they tell you that the results will be visible within 60 seconds?  If it's a positive test, I can always see that extra line the second the urine crosses the test panel.  Big, dark, obvious line.  And since I was in denial (hoping my new exercise routine had just made my period late), I didn't test until at least 10 days past my expected period start date.  So a positive test at that point was as certain as I could get.

15. Have you told anyone your pregnant or waiting? If waiting, details.

I've told my kids (though sometimes I regret it, because they're WAY WAY over-the-top excited, and pelt me with questions and comments every couple seconds), my husband of course, a couple close friends here in Colorado, my closest friend back in Maryland, and my mom/dad/siblings.  I made a comment on Facebook to my mom and sisters (we have our own group) that I hoped I wasn't pregnant... so either I gave no update and they figured it out on their own, or I went ahead and told them.  So in the end, I told my kids first, then went and told my mom/sisters.  I plan on telling DH's family tomorrow, when we have our traditional Sunday dinner.  We're doing a valentine dinner, so I'm making a special cake for the occasion, and will pipe some extra frosting on top to share the news that way.  I probably will only wait a couple more weeks after that to start telling other people.  Or I might just let my kids loose so they can do the work for me, lol.  They're dying with this secret.

I just wanted to say hi, to you- because I read you listed printmaking and it made me really excited!  I am getting my MFA in printmaking right now!  I will be teaching at Penland this summer (in June/July) - in a printmaking studio - and I'm a little nervous about being around the 'chemicals' during those two weeks.  (where I am right now, I'm able to not be around any toxic stuff. (the work I am doing now is all very safe)).   Anyway, congratulations on BFP!!! and I'm glad you're here too. (I'm due Oct 8th.) (My 'getting to know you' page is ....back a ways, like page 1 or 2?)
