Doula questions

I am 10 weeks right now, and annoyed because my insurance cut the birth center from coverage.  I looked at getting a midwife for a home birth, but they are $3,500 on average here.  The only doula quote I have seen is $900, which is better, but still a lot of money for us.

I work and support my husband and his mentally ill sister, so money is not something we will have much of.  I would also consider a student doula, but I am not having much luck finding info on that.

I would love any advice or tips for you all!

Thanks!!!!!

Hi Mama!

I would speak with some doulas in your area and be open and honest about your challenges.

Every woman deserves birth support and lots of doulas will work on a sliding scale if needed.

Thanks!  I have emailed a few, and I plan on discussing our financial situation.  I totally would love to pay full price, because doulas deserve it!  I just don't see that happening without some kind of luck. :(
