What's the longest...

What's the longest that your child has gone without nursing, and not been weaned?

My daughter is 4.5 years and has gone a week without nursing many times and two weeks a few times.  We are now at 3+ weeks without nursing, but I'm not ready to call her weaned yet.  She has had me fooled too many times!  I wonder how long it will take though for me to call her actually weaned.

I think DS1 went something like two months, a couple of times, and then came back to it briefly, then went another two months, etc.  This was the year he was three.  He weaned for good just after his 4th bday.  I was pretty sure he had actually weaned at that point, because I offered him nursing and he pretended to and then laughed like it was a joke....and at that point he was really done.

my son is grown now,but I wanted to chime in with a bit of encouragement. He slowed down on the nursing at age 3.5,then it was probably a handful of times when he was 4-5.The last time he nursed was the first day of kindergarten.Maybe all that big boy stuff had him yearning for baby "recapturing".More "psychologically minded" read judgmental(?) might label this regressive..but I just wanted to say my son was,(is) a very well rounded person, had many friends, was gifted academically and has grown up to be a confident, young man.I would venture this had much to do with child led weaning, bed cosharing and just all around good attachment  parenting. His older brother didn't get much of all this and while each child is different,I would say the younger brother developed much stronger wings because of his stronger roots..so,it's worth it,all you younger than me moms!!
