Washing Cloth Diapers in HE Front Load Washer?

I will be cloth diapering for the first time... baby is due in March and I'm so excited! :D  In reading directions on how to wash the diapers though, I have to admit that it's scaring the pants off me!  Everything I see is "add this to wash cycle" or "add this to rinse cycle" or "do this at such and such a cycle".  Seriously?!!!  Number one, I can't open my washer when it's being used because it locks and number two... how on earth do I know what cycle the washer is on at any given time?  I'm very seriously NON-technical, and the thought of having to mess with washer cycles is really intimidating!  Isn't there a way to wash diapers by just putting them in the washer and letting the WASHER take care of things? *~*

Please help this "not ready for yet another huge learning curve" mom with how to wash my dipes in a HE front loader!  Thanks in advance! :D

nak i have pocket diaps and use apartment building front load washers. i wash inserts and pockets in separate loads and do not overfill the machine. i use allan's soap (1 oz per load) and 2-3 drops of tea tree oil, and pop about 2-3 oz of vinegar in with the inserts too. wash inserts on hot, pockets on warm and hang to dry. this has been my routine for 7 months and my diaps look as fresh as new, with occasional staining if I miss a poop (we part time EC).

Well, I have a HE front loader and I use BumGenius AIO's and Fuzzibunz pocket dipes. I do one wash cycle cold, no detergent, extra rinse. Then I do one whitest white cycle with an extra rinse with Charlie's Soap for HE. No problems so far. Good luck!

I have an HE washer. We use only natural fibers, cotton and bamboo. I wash covers separately in a delicate cycle and air dry.

My wash routine:

1. cold cycle with two tablespoons of bac out (a natural stain and odor fighter) on delicate (the delicate cycle uses more water)

2. longest wash cycle on hot with 1/8 oz. allen's naturally detergent (it really doesn't take a lot of detergent)

3. warm/warm delicate cycle to rinse (it's important to rinse until the bubbles are all gone so the residue doesn't irritate the baby)

That's it!

With a breastfed newborn you don't have to empty diapers in the toilet, just put them in a laundry bag or open basket. Diapers pails make smells way worse. Anything in them will rinse out in the cold rinse.
