Could it be oral thrush??

I'm trying to self-diagnose, help me out! I don't have health insurance at the moment and I think I might have oral thrush, but not sure. Is there anyone else who's had it? My mouth is sore and has been for a couple of weeks. Like you feel after you eat really salty or acidic food? But kinda worse and my throat is uber sore. I haven't noticed any white patches, but I'll have to look again. If it is thrush, how do I treat it??

i've never had it, but heres some ideas that will only help and you could  try:

-rinse your mouth with warm water and a 1-2 drops of tea tree oil 3 times a day

-dont eat sugar or foods that turn into sugar(processed, alcohol etc)

-alkalize your body with greens and other alkalizing foods

-take high quality probiotic supplement, and a lot of it.  (i get natures sunshine and as maintenance i take 2 a day, i would up it to 10 capsules a day to treat)

i cant thimk of much else at this time, but hopefully this is a start

I had it after antibiotics once. I was sick and barely eating anything, just drinking gatorade and my oral hygiene was not the best because I could barely drag myself off the couch. So i had a lot of sugar in my mouth. My tongue just felt coated and gross and had white patches on it. I would try to brush them off and my tongue would start to bleed. It only lasted 2 or 3 days though, as soon as I was off antibiotics and brushing my teeth better, it went away.

I think it is relatively uncommon unless you are immune suppressed or have extenuating circumstances like mine of antibiotics + sugary drinks + no teeth brushing. If you don't see white patches, I'm pretty sure you don't have it. They were very obvious.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah, I'm not sure what it is. Like I said, I don't have any white patches, so I dunno. Thanks for the advice though. I'll get it figured out. smile.gif

Maybe it's a virus? I had a really sore mouth and tongue once, and it turned out to be a virus related to hand, foot, & mouth. Though it did not last for weeks.

Hope you're feeling better soon!
