Pulling rope for birth?

Anyone have any tricks for how to rig up something to pull on? I would have KILLED for something last time, it was all I wanted to do when I was laboring with my daughter but the hospital didn't have anything suitable, and hanging off someone's shoulders or neck didn't even come close to doing the trick. I was thinking one of those pressure-mounted chin-up bars that go in a doorway? But I live in a trailer and the construction is pretty rickety so I don't know if it would hold.

I was just thinking about this yesterday actually. I live in an apartment and don't have anything sturdy enough other than maybe my couch or love seat. I was thinking about buying some rope from a hardware store and tying it around the back of the love seat with enough slack to get in between the rope and the love seat (with the rope against my back and hands holding onto either side of the rope) or just holding it like reigns from the outside. I don't know if you're looking to pull down as you push but that's what I came up with. I found this

it's 3' long though so you would need to find something sturdy to wrap it around... maybe a headboard? I was also thinking something like this for the shower

2 handles on the wall, but I don't know how much weight/pulling they can hold up to.

Rose,

I've had clients use chin up bars in wide doorways, knotted sheets that the client and another person do tug of war with during ctx's, clients have thrown rope over trees while pushing, trying to mention remember all the various ways when one is not in a home/place with rafters, durable hooks into the wood, etc.

I think a rope from a tree sounds pretty good. For indoors, I bet there's some kind of weight lifting or other exercise equipment that would work, something like this http://www.exercise-equipment-parts.com/vertical-knee-raise-dip-bar.html.

Well, while that would be lovely if I were in a cottage in the woods (no seriously, it would) I live in a trailer park and have one tree with branches low enough to use and its in my front yard. =P

Here's another exercise equipment, this is a "free standing chin up bar".  http://trapezerigging.com/PortablePullupBar/?gclid=CKXjnqHR4KYCFQqAgwodTQec0w

You could knot a sheet at one end, put the knotted end over a door and then shut it so that the rest is hanging free or do a tug-of-war with a support person.
